MICKY HAZARD believes Harry Redknapp would be making a mistake by quitting Tottenham for England.

Redknapp has been the favouriteto take over as Three Lions boss ever since Fabio Capello quit in February. But former Spurs midfielder Hazard reckons it would be foolish for the 65-year-old to giveup his “Godlike status” at White Hart Lane to manage the nationalside. Hazard, 52, said: “It would be a big blow to Harry to leave Spurs. “You go through your own managerial career of 30 years and you search for the one club that has the same chemistry as you. “At Spurs, Harry has almost become God. It would be tragic that at the very moment he finds this Godlike status he goes to England which is a bit of a poisoned chalice.” Tottenham have stuttered in the Premier League ever since the speculation over Redknapp’s future began, and face a fight on their hands to finish in the top four. This weekend their attention turns to the FA Cup semi-final as they take on Chelsea – another ofHazard’s former clubs. The Blues have had a turbulent season with the hiring and firing of Andre Villas-Boas leading to the temporary appointment of Roberto Di Matteo. Whether or not Di Matteo is giventhe job on a permament basis remains to be seen. However, in Hazard’s eyes, there’sonly one man for the job – Jose Mourinho. Hazard explained: “Mourinho was such a massive success not just at Chelsea but for English football and wherever he’s gone, he’s achieved. “If he comes back to Chelsea, he’llachieve again because he’s got the X factor.”
